Don't be fooled by her quiet tendencies; While she may not be the most energetic of our staff, Elize is one of our most eager problem solvers. If you have a problem, she has a solution... or if she doesn't, she has a plan to get one--Especially if it involves magitek. 

Former Praeceptor and the original founder of the Institute, Otto approaches everything with a kind heart and an open mind, from his academic pursuits to connecting with his staff. When not found stargazing late at night, he can be found in his office with a pile of books and a cup of his homebrew "coffee".

Also known as the Institute's strongest political backbone, Clio spends much of her time keeping VIRD held together with an iron grip. When she isn't cleaning up VIRD's political disasters, she spends her free time with her family and exploring her experimental interest in the nuanced properties of aetherial ink. 

Experienced with military practices across several regimes, Einarr hails from the far north where he brings a rich culture of experience and perspective to VIRD's mission and capability for proper star-wide outreach. 

Brumeborn Saoirse came to VIRD with a singular goal, but since her time here, she's grown into a woman that the Institute can rely on to keep them safe as well as remind them to fall back on VIRD's original mission and remember the common folk as it grows and expands to higher pursuits of dissemination. 

​Co-founder of the Institute and its first financial backer, Xam uses his connections to VIRD to explore fringe sciences and seeks discovery in the unknown, typically much to his own benefit. Ignore the clock he carries, it can't hurt you. 

A long time member of the Department of Worldy Affairs, Albatross spends his time assisting VIRD in code compliance and acts as a liaison between Sharlayan and the Institute. Most Sharlayan missions will go through him before reaching the Praeceptor's desk, but not without a bit of snark. 

​Department of Wordly Affairs consultant and the official 'tattletale' to Sharlayan, Velvet acts as a representative on the Arbitration council to observe its explorations and pursuits and to keep Sharlayan updated on the Institute's future. 

A new face to Eorzea, Andesine brings foreign knowledge from the lands beyond the Salt in exchange for a good story that she can remember for years to come. Lover of fairy tales and noble adventure stories, this medical technician has much to discover and can't wait to explore what this star has to offer. 

Child of the stars, Caelum's fate was changed when he happened across an opportunity to meet Otto Valtin and become apart of the Institute's mission. Now, Caelum brings to VIRD a unique perspective and understanding of how fate lays itself out for us all. 

A viera of unusual background, Fyor came to VIRD seeking a place to spread his goodwill and knowledge of botany, growth, and unique "conjury" skills developed outside of the Shroud. With a relaxed smile and a penchant for positivity, nothing has yet proven itself capable of deterring him from his mission to help others. 

Prodigy in graviational magicks and the queen of self experimentation, Hoshi was recommended to VIRD through her Sharlayan mentor to join for a place where she could freely explore her studies and have the support of other scholars to motivate her and help keep her grounded before she flew too close to the sun. 

Looking down from her ivory tower, Naih brings a certain elegance and grace to VIRD's academic sphere with her finely tuned knowledge of arcanima and her family's known presence in the mammetry business. 

The First of her name, Naour stumbled upon VIRD in its first days moving into the Hinterlands and has stuck around since, taking lead in agricultural pursuits and offering exceptional proposals for keeping the Institute self-sufficient in some of its operations. 

Finding VIRD during its ventures in Tural, Neneru brings spunk, charm, and a brilliant sense of adventure and love of stories to VIRD's staff as a historian and lore collector. 

A student of Baldesion, Sanami brings to VIRD her experience and expertise of kami and auspice from the Far East, having devoted more than a decade of her life in scholarly pursuit of their nature. Her extensive knowledge is matched only by her impressive sophistication. 

A traditional arcanist from La Noscea, V'lyrren came to VIRD looking for solace and safety to explore her pursuits and has since found the necessary support to work on trimming the strings that guide her, as well as to give way to her unique take on arcanima applied weaponry. 

As a daughter of Ishgard with a turbulent past, Angela comes to VIRD seeking the promise of safely exploring her desires without the looming weight of her family to keep her from reaching new heights. 

The first face anyone sees when walking through VIRD's doors will often be Elpida, who works the front desk and performs secretarial duties for many within the Institute's halls. Don't mind her odd taste in snacks; She's nothing if not brilliant, even if a bit strange. 

Gyoza took inspiration from his fellow Namazu and sought higher learning in Kugane. Attaining a degree there through hard work and savvy instincts he made his way westward eventually joining VIRD where he brings brilliant, if sometimes wacky, lateral problem solving to help anyone in need. 

Friends to more animals than she is people, Hortensia helps manage the stables and keeps VIRD on its toes with the myriad of animals that she introduces to the Institute, giving it plenty of experience in learning about the vast difference in husbandry procedures for any -kin she can convince to follow her. 

Known as someone with a fiery passion, Kelta has brought to VIRD a myriad of adventure, perspective, and support in his skills as a Dalmascan mystic knight, a Thavnarian dancer, and /now/ an Alexandrian doctor. How much more can he do with all those years left to live? 

Hard working by nature, he worked for both the Ironworks and Skysteel Manufacturing before finding work with VIRD and the Sharlayan Gleaners. Morvik brings a grounded outlook, big heart, and plenty of engineering expertise to the Institute team.

A woman out of her element, Ophelia brings an old perspective to a young new world, but don't let that fool you--She's got plenty to learn and experience just as the rest of the Institute does. 

A man dedicated to the art of healing and arcanic means of purifying disease, Shi'sae came to the Institute with lofty goals and an even loftier sense of determination. Now, he brings his medical expertise to VIRD to share what he learned growing up in the Shroud. 

Cautious, prepared, and ready for action. Tilwald encompasses everything you'd expect out of someone well-learned of things that go bump in the night, and perhaps a bit more. 

Originally hailing from the West Shroud, Zahra came to VIRD for a fresh start and found it with VIRD's team of gleaners and groundskeepers. You can find her offering her combative support on contracted expeditions or helping with the gardens and chocobos on campus! 

Did someone mention bones? No? Well, Anaah did, and now she won't shut up abou--
*Anaah is a loyal heart with a firm head on her shoulders, and VIRD's primary stickler for rules. 

Chantal is a proud woman, both in her studies and herself. Her dedication to the magic she practices comes from a young age, but that doesn't mean she intends to quit there; While aiding VIRD in their mission, she hopes to achieve even higher greatness.

Precisely and accurately is Karichante's mantra, and the creed for which they approach their work. You can rely on them to not only get the job done, but get the job done /well/. 

A former member of the Tuliyollal Landsguard who brings battle-hardened tactics and exacting training to day to day security at the Institute. While her purpose is to protect members in forays and at home, she hopes to better understand the world at the side of curious scholars.

A stalwart poroggo companion and loyal to a fault, Ser Polliwog, Captain Miguel the Loyal, has chosen to defend the Institute and its Praeceptress believing their cause noble and true, even if it means trying to put his life on the line. And boy, does he try. 

Sofeia is best explained in experience than words. We recommend meeting her first; But be warned, nothing can prepare you for the first impression. 

With eyes in the past, present, and future, Valorous brings a unique experience with Eikonic presences to VIRD, having hailed from the Scaevanworks before officially joining the Institute. No primal is safe from her excitement nor observation. 

Scion to one of Sharlayan's newly established families in mammet construction, Yloise brings a fresh and youthful perspective to VIRD's door with her sharp mind for mammeteering as she follows in the footsteps of her mother's journey to Archonhood. 

Young and bold, Cinnabar brings a fresh perspective as someone from the New World--or rather, even /newer/ than the New World--and a fierce attitude toward adventure and sport. Perhaps he'll find proof that Eorzea is better than he expected, eh? 

Working relentlessly for a variety of businesses, companies, and individuals, Echo offers VIRD her assistance as both hired security and as the appointed postal worker for VIRD's Emporium campus. If you see any moogles in the area, please let them work! 

An expert in Allagan-styled technologies, Edelweiss brings a unique perspective to the medical field that mixes a variety of tools and methods to the bright minds of VIRD in their time and need. 

A man of frequent reflection, Jean often ponders the potential of Sharlayan magicks taught traditionally to sages and the possibilities currently hidden to the common man. The mysteries of Dynamis drive him even further in his studies and guide him toward the future. 

After many years as an adventurer and mercenary connected to the Institute, Kessah now lives with Sigrun at 'The Carrot and Stick' inn in Dalmasca while managing the Thavnairian base of operations on behalf of VIRD from afar with the occasional visit to make sure things are operating smoothly.

Reformed soldier of Alexandria with ties to Kessah, Leir joined VIRD as a favor to help them keep tabs on other parts of the world and support the Institute in their efforts of dissemination. For the most part, he enjoys his time having little to do for the Institute other than keep his apartment clean for the occasional visitor. 

You'll hear her whistling catchy tunes before you see her--Sigrun, once an active member of VIRD, now resides in Dalmasca where she acts as the host for Institute members when they have need to travel out east with her inn, 'The Carrot and Stick'. 

New to worldly traveling, Sinenora now resides within the city of Kugane as a means of supporting VIRD and breaching her comfort zone for the pursuit of knowledge after her previous exploits in La Noscea, where she first stumbled into VIRD's scholars by accident. 

Arcanist, healer, and snark extraordinaire. Zirngeim, another Limsan local, has taken to VIRD in a search for adventure and wordly discovery in exchange for her efforts in aiding those who'd scour the star for new educational experiences. A pretty easy gig, all told.
